My dog died

Sad that she died. Sad that she was blind and drowned after falling in our pool at night. It was sudden, dramatic, and shocking that way. She was not young, but not how I pictured this. This just happened an hour ago. I am most sad by how sad Chuck is. And I will never forget the way he screamed when we found her and how we tried to resuscitate her to no avail. He thought she was ok and outside because he swears he saw her pass by the media room door. Now he is saying that was her spirit passing along saying goodbye to us. We kept her alive 7 years after going blind and with diabetes (13 total). Chuck was less upset than this when his drunk dad died 3 years ago. It isn't a person, but it/she was one of our kids.

My heart goes out to you and your family. My furbabies are just like my real babies in my heart, so I can emphasize with the anguish.

((((Pink)))) That's the awful part of loving. Now to grieve.
In support during this difficult time.

I relate to it all Marc as we just lost our Sadie Marie Pup a short time ago and the feelings of loss were and still are often very heavy.  She use to sleep with me and kiss me well before putting me to sleep and then snuggle up next and close to me till morning.  Yes I can see her standing in the doorway watching me or laying on the pillow in the living room while we watched tv.  What was hardest was holding her as we put here down because her congenital heart disease was stage 5.   remorse with you both.  (((Hugs))) cry

((((((Pinkchip)))))), and hugs for Chuck as well. I am so sorry that your dog passed away so unexpectedly in such a sad and shocking accident, and after all the stress of the past weeks as well.

I had a blind cat - he didn't know he was blind and would charge about the place. He taught me a lot about living well regardless of disabilities. We did have to get the fire brigade to rescue him a couple of times because he was intrepid and brave and would sometimes get himself into tricky fixes.

Our fur friends are family, sometimes our closest family me-thinks, we miss them and grieve when they pass. It is so easy to think 'if only...' but we all know where that goes, which is why I'm so grateful for the lovely memories I have when I loose someone I love. (((((hugs)))))

Oh no - I'm so sorry!  I know it will take time to absorb and process this.  How wonderful that you were able to help her all these years, and keep her going well past what many people would have been able to do.  But what a shock now, and so much sorrow.  Our grief is always in proportion to how much we're able to love.  Take extra good care of yourself right now.  {{{Mark and Chuck}}}

Just want to say I'm so sorry. Losing a dog is so hard. They are pure unconditional love, and that loss hurts.

(((Pink and Chuck))) Know your heart is aching right now as I too lost my fur baby of 17 years in January. He was right beside me throughout some tough years medically. Many nights after his passing I swear I felt him jump up on the bed beside me. Hope that you will be able to put the horrific last day behind you and remember all the wonderful days you shared. Fur babies give unconditional love and yours certainly wouldn't want you to be sad.

I recently came across a picture from 8 years ago.  It was taken the day our sweet dog Corky was put down....he was 14. It still made me so sad...

I totally believe it was your dog's spirit that passed by the doorway.

Take comfort in all the loving care you provided....

Ellen

I am really sorry for your loss. We could not have kids so our dogs have always been our "fur Kids". We love them like crazy.

My heartfelt sympathy is being sent to you. I have two 12 yr old long-haired chihuahuas. One is fighting cancer and the other was just diagnosed with micro valve insufficiency and an enlarged heart. I dread their demise yet I know it is coming. I pray for your pain to lessen, Lyne

SO sorry ....and I relate to Chuck missing miss doggie more than his A dad....LOVE comes in 4 feet just as much if not more than the 2 legged kind.....I had to put down my beloved pittie this past March 3-1/2 years old...I cried for 2 weeks and still miss her.....never missed any of my parents, but my fur babies??? They loved me unconditionally....I love my critters more than most people....I am just so sorry how your baby met her end...and I do believe it was her spirit passing by you two, saying "C ya later, on the other side" and when you two pass on, you will see your beloved little BFF and she will be whole and with lovely, seeing eyes.......condolences to both of you
