Courage to Change September 13

Today's reading in Courage to Change is about the preciousness of each moment and making the decision to make each moment count. By relying on the AlAnon program, working the 12 steps, and improving their connection to HP, the author is able to stay in the moment and make positive change in that moment.

The author also reflects on their ability to start fresh with their approach at any moment. A new 24 hour period starts each moment, so there is no need to wait for morning to start again with new intent.

Today's reminder: This day offers me a chance to make a new start at living. How can I make the best use of it?

Today's Quote: "We start with gifts. Merit comes from what we make of them." Jean Toomer

_____________

I like today's reading, especially the message about our ability to start fresh with a new approach any moment we find a need to do so. I begin most days by writing in my journal, and I set an intent for the day. Sometimes it is a project that I want to do, sometimes a way I want to respond to my day. Often, I have to make adjustments to my intent for the day, and sometimes I find myself out of balance or reacting instead of responding. In those times, I practice pausing, reflecting, and then setting a new intent (or the same intent) and starting again. The pause I allow myself to have gives me the space I need to begin a new 24 hours, and change my approach to my day.

Today, I will remember to ask "how important is it?" and keep my focus on my own priorities, not priorities that are on the outside.

Thanks Skorpi for your service and the daily.....I too like today's reading. I remember when someone in recovery said, "You realize you can start your day over at any time/point you choose to - right? I had not EVER considered that before - I allowed my mind and outside events to control my moods, my attitudes and my judgement about 'this day' to carry all along until I went to bed.

I too practice pausing and considering what's the next best step based on my spiritual condition today. Some days, that's taking it easy and other days, it's self-care, service, etc. Love that our program suggests we stay present and be gentle with ourselves - two things that eluded me before.

Happy Wednesday! Make it a great day!

Thank you skorpi for your service. This is such a powerful reading for me and I can relate to the quote and I think I may make it my new background. I feel each day I'm continually gifted with opportunities to grow and I'm much more aware of the nudges from a hp in the small coincidences that make me stop in my tracks and think "wow".
