discouraged, overwhelmed, confused

hi my friends,  i am feeling very discouraged, overwhelmed, confused.  praying for clarity for far too long.  turning / turned 'things' over to my higher power a long time ago and continue to today.  don't see answers.  the disease is so powerful and affects so many. and progressive..............  appreciate your thoughts especially prayers.

((Runi)) You are correct. The disease of alcoholism is indeed powerful and baffling. When I found things too confusing, I reverted to program basics such as, Living one day at a time, doing the next right thing, meetings, gratitude and asset lists, reading the daily reader and checking with my sponsor- these actions generally helped to restore my equilibrium.
Not sure why you are so discouaged.

Hugs runi .. Sending positive rights your way .. I'm going to put things out there .. Are you doing any work towards any goal or are you waiting for that sign? I ask because There are resting points in my life that are meant for growth .. I make the decision not to make a decision .. Still a decision. I have learned to do the foot work while the God of my understanding paved the way. What that means for me is reading my lit doing step work and doing what I need to do in order to continue forward in my growth. Not making a decision is a decision .. That's ok just know the difference between avoidance and truly waiting for an answer. If you are feeling frustrated maybe up your inner work and awareness to your own program. Hugs ;)

I agree with what the others have posted. If you can occupy yourself by working the different parts of the Alanon program you are making progress. I see it as every minute I am not worrying or being anxious is a step toward my recovery. The idea is to replace the negative obsessive thoughts with good or healthy thoughts from Alanon. It is sort of like quitting smoking, if you find something to do you will postpone lighting up that cigarette. I am trying to quit smoking right now. I will find some kind of housework or read a book, play a video game, anything to stop thinking about lighting up another cigarette. There is a link on this site for working the 12 steps. I have found work sheets on the internet too. Have you found any books or pamphlets to read. I am pretty sure your local library has the books. We say one day at a time but you can concentrate on just making through the next hour. When that hour is over, start another one. Then you can look back and see how strong you were to make it through the day. I will be saying prayers for you. Keep coming back!

((((Runii)))) been there and done that and it was miserable for me also because I found out I was a power and control person often trying to make things happen without having good plans or goals.  I had to recognize that the silent times were part of my lessons.  Be quiet and listen (thru your ears and eyes) and I learned that was and is how HP often contacts and teaches me.  In support.  ((((hugs))))smile
