Today I have hope

Today I am cleaning our house and preparing for my loves release from her 90 day program. I have hope and trust in both my HP and hers that she will return home in a much better state than when she left. I want great things for us both, I want that future that looked so bright years ago but seemed impossible once the addiction tried to kill it and her. I know that we will always live with the possibility of relapse, but I also now know that I can't prevent it if it is going to happen. I will continue to grow for myself here in Al-anon, and I will utilize the tools I pick up to be a better me and minimize my contribution to both her disease and mine. I know there will be many hard times and many of my own failures to contend with, but I thank you all for your continued support. Thank you for all you have done to help me so far and thank you in advance for the great many times you will be here for me in the future. Today I am happy and serene, even though I am cleaning, I hope my HP finds a way to make this last. Rick

Hi Rick,  I will also be doing some cleaning today ... and enjoying it. Isn't it funny?  I wouldn't normally enjoy cleaning, but in my case I am still cleaning out items that remind me of bad times in the past, so that I will be left with only the memories of the good.  I am making my space easier for me to live in, which gives me hope for the future.  This is only physical stuff, but removing it clears up my spiritual space as well.

Happy cleaning!  For at least this one day, the happiness and serenity will be there.  Tomorrow is not here yet.

I must confess, the cleaning has been slow and almost non existent, I have been spending some time with family and friends today, but some if the laundry is done, and I am not a sleeper, so the rest of it will be accomplished after dinner. I took some time for me today and it felt great!

One Day at a Time, One moment at a time - those slogans helped ground me in the here/now. I had to practice looking for the gifts and joy in the present as I was one who always lived in projection mode. The real joy today is what is going on right here and right now!

The grand-babies are here, we're in our jammies eating popcorn and watching Mickey Mouse....8:05am - gotta roll with it - I do feel a nap in my future - so tired from softball and sore too!

Great plan Rick - stay focused on what's working instead of what's not!! (((Hugs))) and prayers for you both!
