Courage to Change (C2C) 3/17/17

Good morning and happy St. Patrick's Day for those who celebrate!

Today's reading starts by suggesting no problem lasts forever.  No matter how it seems, this too shall pass.  Difficult situations often bring out qualities we might not realize we have - courage, faith and need for help from others.  All of our experiences - good and bad - can help us grow.

We may need patience and some wounds take longer to heal than others.  Time does help even when we doubt that.  We can appreciate what we learn in recovery including mourning and acceptance.  We can share our losses and triumphs with each other - that's how we grow in spirit and gather courage.

Today's reminder ---  Remembering that this too shall pass can make it easier to get through a difficult day.  I will be very gentle with myself during this time.  Some extra loving care and attention to myself can make everything a little easier.

The quote from today is from ... "In All Our Affairs" --- "I am equal to what life presents when I use the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, the slogans, literature, sponsorship, conventions and most importantly meetings."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before recovery, I felt as if how it was was how it was always going to be.  I woke up with dread, gloom, anxiety and fear and went to bed the same way.  Day In, Day Out, I was obsessed with all that was broken and different than my plan.
Through many meetings and the tools of recovery, I have heard and witnessed that this too shall pass.  Each day is a gift unto itself and is not tied to yesterday or tomorrow.  The biggest gift I have received as a result of recovery is gratitude for this very moment and acceptance of the past.  The future is yet to be so I do try to leave it where it is - in God's hands.
I know now when I feel pain, uncertainty, fear or other that it will pass.  I need to do what's told - focus on me and what I can change and then leave the rest to God.  Good times and bad times are never perpetual - thus the gift of one day at a time, one moment at a time.
I have always considered myself impatient.  I do believe that's improved - still work to be done.
Make it a great day everyone - grateful to be part of the journey...
Good morning IAH and my MIP family Happy  St. Patrick's Day to all.
The C2C reading for today is indeed powerful and brings me back to how I felt when I first entered program., filled with fear and oh so hopeless.
The acceptance of life on life's terms and the ability to do so was not how I process information or something, I accepted.  Al-Anon says "changed attitudes, aid recovery", .i found this to be true so that   by working the steps, attending meetings, praying and meditating,  my attitudes  changed.  I began to see that it is progress not perfection that is important and that problems do not last forever.
As I practice this program I have discovered that  I may not get what I wanted but I certainly will be given the ability to live life with courage serenity and wisdom.
Today that is enough.
Have a grand day
I have my corn beef in the crock pot and my green 'on'.....the problem - played ball last night and playing tonight....and I have the invasion of little people who spent the night. I am so tired - ready for a nap already!!! Today is a great day for a ton of rest and of course corn beef, cabbage, taters + carrots - yummy!!!
Enjoy your day - I'm skipping our parade - it's a bit more than I can handle!!
Hello MIP family and a pleasant St Paddy's Day. I cheated and cooked our corned beef dinner yesterday but we had enough to celebrate today with corned beef sandwiches. ..delicious. Today I also had the pleasure of calling and wishing my RAS a Happy Anniversary. He said that he couldn't believe that it's been 15 years and how much has changed in that time. Now he is a Happy married guy with a 2 yr old darling son. Meanwhile my youngest AS is just finished 2 court hearings for DUI issues. I know so well that this is his business and he has to be the one that choozes to change or not. I just try to work my program and turn him over to HP. I am just so thankful that HP was watching that day and no one was injured.
LOL....I get it....on the spellcheck. Well - my oldest AS has been an A-S-S for a few days. Needless to say, things got heated yesterday/today and we will be having a boundary discussion in the near future. I tell you - these kids can be a blessing and can certainly also give me a run for the money!
I am off to play softball in a while - we had our corn beef and fixings early so it could digest before ball. We will also have Reuben's in the next day/so - love them too!
Make it a great evening all - be safe on the roads if you're out and about!
