Hope for Today Jan 17

Good morning everyone-

Today'a reading is on the topic of letting go. What does it mean to let go? How does it benefit us to let go? As I was reading i thought about how for me, anytime it seems difficult to let go I can usually find that my will is getting in the way.  If I let go then I am not in control and if I am not in control then who knows what will happen?!  The writer sees this situation in a bouquet  of flowers.  Some are opened, some are not; initially the writer is hoping that all of the flower buds will open.  After a time he/she begins to see the beauty in that some are open, some are not, and the fact that there are differences between them contributes to the beauty as well.

I am thinking that today's reading is a reminder that we may not be able to control every aspect of every situation, nor should we have that ability.  We can let go and appreciate what is before us. What may have seemed like imperfections may be the very thing that is contributing to the beauty.

Today I will practice letting go! Hope you all enjoy your Tuesday.

Mary

Good Morning Mary,  Thanks for posting  your thoughts on this very important topic.
Thanks to alanon I now have  the tools to actually be able to " let go"  of fear, worry, anger and resentment.  This ability  has certainly  improved the quality of my life  tremendously and given me untold hours of serenity and peace.
I practice this important tool  by using the slogans and the serenity prayer, as well as reminding myself that having any expectation is like having a built in resentments and that  acceptance of life on life's terms is the principle that  I want to live my life by.

Thanks for you service

Good morning - thank you Mary for your service, the daily reading and your ESH. Thank you Betty also for your ESH. Letting go is not always easy for me - even though I know it's the best next step....I am quicker than before to use this tool but at times, still hold onto things that are well beyond my scope.

I love how we become aware of our will and the role it plays in blocking serenity and forward progress. For me, it is this and my ego that keep me holding on at times, and with our program and practice, I see improvement slowly but surely.

My life, days and peace of mind are much better each day that I can step aside and let go. Happy Tuesday all - make it a great day!!

I so appreciate the share about today's page. I left ALL 3 of my daily books at a retreat I attended and cannot get back there until Saturday--so having a sense of what they said today and the opportunity to hear a share or 3 on working those principles for today is a great service to me this week. I know that the 6a.m. eastern time phone-bridge ala-non meeting reads them everyday but am not up that early most days.

Going to forge ahead in a life on life's terms attitude to day. Aiming to see the beauty (& maybe the loving lesson from HP) in ALL things...  not just the open flower bud, as it mentioned. I intend to believe HP has bountiful gifts pouring forth to me from so many resources of well being in the world around me--- if I only open my eyes to see them and not focus on what is NOT there... HP speaks as loud as my willingness to listen as they say in our lit.--Have a lovely Tuesday everyone!
