ODAT reading 1-15-2017

The ODA T reading for January 15 speaks about praying for the sobriety of the alcoholic in our lives, and then when sobriety is achieved,we begin to have fearful moments that it is not going to last. We walk around on eggshells and discover that we cannot delude ourselves into thinking that sobriety is the sole goal.  We must deal with each problem that comes to us with the help of Al-Anon tools, the 12 steps and slogans
The quote says, "I pray for the wisdom to take a rational and tolerant attitude toward whatever problems I may face each day."

I also think that the C2C reading for today is apropos as is the quote; from AJ Cronin; "worrying never robs tomorrow of its sorrows; it only saps today of its strength."

I love this quote and for many years else that I could conquer worry by simply self discipline not so. With the Steps, slogans and meetings I have been able to live in the moment, and in the day while   trusting HP.

Great reading and thanks hotrod for the interpretation. I have become a chronic worrier and really have to work hard to stay in today. It really can rob me of enjoying the moment. I do worry about my loved one remaining sober and then have to always go back to step one . I am powerless and I do not have the ability to make her drink or keep her sober. I used to think that it was helpful to try to prepare for any bad news ahead of time but realize now that was only robbing me of my peace today. Alot of what i worry about never happens anyways and if it does I can deal with it then as I choose. I am not alone my hp is with me and will guide me if I become willing to listen.

Thank you Betty for your service, the daily and your ESH.....When the readings discuss worrying and how it steals from us what's in front of us, I am always reminded of my aunt who has passed on. She used to say, "If you're worrying, you're not praying...." - with resolve, fortitude and honest intent. I recall as a younger person I thought this was a simplified view of life, faith, etc. As I've gotten older, I do realize the wisdom in her belief about worry/prayer.

I'm grateful the program gives us tools to live our lives as best as possible. I'm grateful for the insight I have been gifted to realize what I can and can not control. I admit readily that I am powerless and can lean into my higher power and this program and that in God's time, all will be well. I do realize that through the painful times, I grow. It's not always easy, but it's possible.

We've got ice moving in, and I'm perfectly content and grateful to be home safe, warm and out of harm's way! Please stay safe for anybody in the path of this crazy winter weather!! (((Hugs))) to all!
