Crazy making

Today I saw my ex husband it's the first time I have seen him since my daughter has been diagnosed with liver disease and still continues to drink,my ex husband has been a drinker for years, every one bows down to him because he has a temper,he lives off benifits,he brought up the subject of our daughter, and I said I wish she would stop drinking,I know this sounds crazy but of cause I want her to stop drinking but in all honesty I said it to have a dig at him because I am angry at the effect other people's drinking has had on me(it bloody hurts)his answer was "well my liver is ok"I have spent couple of hours crying mad at all the craziness that alcoholic can cause, wanting to run a million miles away from it all, knowing I can't or won't because I would never desert my daughter, mad at myself for setting myself up for a hurt,my ex and I have very different views, values extra, which is why we divorced when my daughters were babies,I am angry at my daughter for following him in her drinking patterns,I am feeling sorry for myself but it does make me realise I need help  I can't do this one on my own, hoping al-alon is going to work out,Monday is first meeting for me

Sister you are a normal victim of this disease and your worries and fears are well founded.  Go find out where and we get together in your neighborhood in face to face meetings and come out as early as you can.  He has already been taught well how to be defensive regarding the ideas and speech of drinking...he will react all the time trying to get you and others to believe he is Okay....just go check his liver....or....bladder or pancreas or all of the other messed up organs in his body that the normal alcoholic denies are affected....LOL.  They try to convince themselves with the "Not Meeeees" 24/7.

Its time to take care of you now that you are here and have found the MIP Family.   The majority of us are Al-Anon Family group fellows and have been for a long time.  It is why we have remained sane and alive while we loose family and friends to the drugs and alcohol they are addicted to.   Please keep coming back we do each other good.   (((((hugs))))) smile

((Marcusjohn))) You are not alone Alanon was formed to help families of alcoholics. I know i found alanon when i was at my lowest and knew that I could not do it alone.
I found the most important thingws breaking the isolation caused by living with this disease and attending meetings helped me to do just that. I was also given new constructive tools to live by that enabled me to live my life with courage serenity and wisdom, while supporting myself and my family, emotionally.
You are not alone so please do search out the meetings and attend.

Welcome to MIP Marcusjohn - glad that you found us and glad that you joined right in and shared. I also love that you have already researched local Al-Anon meetings and plan to attend. I am one that feels my local meetings and the program saved my sanity and my life when I came broken, scared, angry and defeated.

There is hope and help in recovery and MIP here is a great secondary source as well. Keep coming back - you are worth it!
