Courage to Change (C2C) 9/30/16

Today's reading is all about Just for Today.....we are reminded in the reading that all we really have to work with is today.  The past is over, tomorrow has not yet come so today is our gift.  We get to choose how we spend this day!

The reading talks about trying new behavior - just for today.  Perhaps new thinking - such as what a gift this day is as well as our life.  The reading suggests that maybe life is a series of experiments in which some succeed and some fail - and how revealing that each of these can point us to new experiments to see what unfolds.

Maybe just for today, we can slightly change a pattern of behavior that causes issues.  Who knows what might happen.  An example given - perhaps the pattern is to respond with a negative attitude to a certain person or situation - i.e. - rising from bed, new work project, authority figure, etc.  Maybe - just for today - I can try a different more positive response.  Consider it research and check the results.

Today's reminder -- Just for Today, I will look for ways to enjoy life -- stop by a garden, try a new hobby, or call a good friend.  I can look for humor.  I can savor love.  I can explore something new.  Maybe just for today, I'll try standing on my head to see if I like the view.

Today's quote --  Just for Today, I will find a little time to relax and realize what life is and can be; time to think about God and get a better perspective on myself ---from Alcoholism, The Family Disease

Great reading for the end of a lovely week and month.  I find my serenity is most disturbed when I am not in the present day.  Living each day as it comes, accepting what comes as part of it and not taking things personally are gifts this program has given to me.

I am one who lost my sense of humor for a while because of this disease.  The pain, worry and anxiety is becoming less evident in my wrinkles.  As I look at my reflection in the mirror, I see laugh lines slowly replacing my worry lines.  I am grateful for all the ways my HP reminds me that the joy of my life is the journey and not the destination.  Just for today, I'm going to take it easy and nurse myself - not feeling 100%.  I have a full/busy weekend and truly want to be a part of it all - present as possible.

Make it a great day everyone - just for today - I am grateful you are here and I am too!

Hello IAH Thanks for sharing on this important alanon tool I love this little bookmark as I find that it reduces the principles of this powerful program into manageable actions.

I also can identify with the reading as it suggests that we can change one small action each day so as to chip away at our defects and so set ourselves free. I have included this tool with the slogans because they are each simple reminders and are easy to remember and apply.
I hope you are feeling better and thanks for your service.
