Feeling like "hole in the doughnut" and need to connect!

hi Everyone!  I recently started back in al anon (after going for 10 years from 30-40 years old) and in my town there is cross talk and gossip so I prefer PHONE MEETINGS that I just discovered.

I am recently separated but having a VERy tough time as my parents are elderly and I also have a 13 year old to raise. My ex is very helpful and really does not want to separate.

My therapist says i am in a "dark night of the soul" and I do NOT feel HP right now!! I used to hear Guidance each day and I even could feel angels around me at times!  I feel very lost and feel extreme anxiety each day.  I have read about this and hoping that some of the al anon PRAYERS and literature will help me.   I feel disinterested in most things I used to love. I suppose I am grieving my marriage and also my parents are ready to leave here (dad has liver disease)  I have SO MUCH to be GRATEFUL FOR in my life and a health lovely son but I just feel isolated, empty and lonely.  I have friends here in town but I feel ashamed about what I am going through and they want me to "snap out of it" since I have separated for 9 month.

This feels so hard.  Are there any Al anon prayers or slogans that anyone would recommend?  I am looking online about the dark night of the soul but when I fist came to al anon my Depression was LIFTED by HP after a few months only!!

Sending Love and Thanks!! xx

Welcome Charlotte I have been there and do understand. The 'dark night of the soul' that I experienced lifted after many meetings and reworking of the Steps.  Mnay very religious persons have experiened this "dark night",    Mother Theresa speaks of it often in her writings

I was reminded that pain is part of life and that by accepting life on life's terms would help me to walk through this difficult times with courage, serenity and gain great wisdom. It did work that way. I was also reminded that pain is inevitable but suffering is optional so I could attend meetings, make gratitude lists, as you have done here and remember that it is all a process.

I suggest that you try to search out face to face meetings once again, as I believe they saved my sanity and life Here is a poem of slogans that also helped.

Slogans in a Poem by Coach Papa

First Things First - I have heard it said - Be Honest With yourself, - get out of your head - You can Feel Good -About Saying "No" - Keep Coming Back to - Talk And Grow - Easy Does It - sounds real nice - If you Keep It Simple - you don't roll the dice - Live And Let Live - Brings it back to you - They're in recovery, - you are, too - What's to Be will Be - So, Let Go & Let God - Just wait and see - That one Day At A Time - Is more than a phrase - In Al-Anon, - it's the phrase that pays - Think! Listen And Learn - or watch bridges burn - Keep An Open Mind, - Now it's your turn - Is your serenity worth it - Just, Fake It 'Till You Make It! - I am pretty sure, You can - Cause, How - important is it? - In time, you will understand - It's true, we're all different, - But, together we can make it - If you feel that you can't, - Then, once again, fake it - When you let it begin with me - The fog will raise, - the sun will shine - Your eyes will see - Slogans are there - For you to use - Say one every day - So you don't sing the blues - It works when you work it - We say and it's true - We're all here to help - But your recovery is up to you.

RE: Feeling like

Hi Charlotte. I am so glad to hear that Alanon has helped in the past to lift your depression. I am hopeful that it will do the same again. I'm sorry and understand the anxiety you are going through. The slogan "One Day at a Time" helped me. It also helped to know I am not alone, which I could clearly see from the rooms and online groups like this one. This is the best online group I've come across. Keep coming back.
