Working on Decision Making

This is definitely one of my character defects. For me, putting things off is usually tied into some sort of fear - fear of financial insecurity, fear of change, failure, embarrassment etc. These things can be subtle at times because I don't live with a lot of drama and chaos anymore. Inaction doesn't lead to catastrophe but it's making for a somewhat suffocating life. This happens to me from time to time and is a signal that it's time to take try a few new things, take some risks and venture to grow some more. There have been a few major things that I've wanted to take on but there's that old "why rock the boat" feeling.  I don't have to take everything on at once but I do know that I could be giving myself more chances for happiness.

I decided to start small and work my way towards more. This morning I made a list of about thirty things to do today. I know that sounds like a lot! It was actually all small things just around the house. I used the slogan Keep It Simple when making my list. For example, emptying the clean dishes from the dishwasher and putting them away. I'd like that to become a habit. Also, lifting a dozen dinner plates into the cupboard is good exercise for my upper arms wink  I put a bunch of other small chores on that list too. Also, a limited amount of time on the computer, reading my daily readings, removing household clutter, bags of things to donate.  I put a few things on my list concerning finances and left some time for fun. I'm not on schedule with the day, will just see what it brings but the list is a good guide for me.

I guess my thinking is if I can look at some of these small daily accomplishments, see new physical space, a home environment that honors a person who is recovering, it may inspire me to risk to make some larger decisions I've been putting off and take the actions that go along with them.

I have two things on my list for today that involve educating myself by reading and gathering information about how others have made the same decisions and life changes I'm considering. Later, I may ask for help from some experts. But I can do some footwork on my own behalf and gather information and questions for a future meeting. This is another way of being pro active concerning my responsibility to myself. It's a way of gently working through my fears. Although it's healthy to have some degree of trust in the expertise of others, the person with the greatest responsibility in knowing what I am getting into and whether it's feasible is myself. Gathering information from various sources will help me to make a determination of what sounds right to me rather than projecting the worst and as a result choosing to take no action at all.  I've asked my higher power to help me in this process.

Anyway, thanks for letting me share with you. I hope everyone is having a good day today. TT

You sound like you are off to a great start today!!!  I resonated a lot with what you posted, as a procrastinator, and appreciate you sharing your outlook and growth.

Hope you make good progress on your list - and I like that you left some time for fun too!

Thanks so much (((everyone))) for positive vibes the encouragement. I did get quite a bit done. Being able to see the results of my physical labor (a cleaner house) and my bookmark in my learning manual (gathered new information) are reminders of the progress I made yesterday.  These things are just small nudges toward bigger actions on my own behalf.  I can get f its at times. So, taking small actions, beginning where I am at can be very helpful for lifting myself out of a slump.

I now know a little more about making a financial decision than I had yesterday morning. I've read what a few options look like and what they will involve. Knowledge is power right? :) The Unknown is now not totally "unknown."  I feel more serenity and less worry.

I also have done some reading on digital interviewing. I received an invitation to do one and have never done one before. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with digital interviewing.  I am not enthusiastic about doing this LOL   Any insights and experience with digital interviewing would be greatly appreciated. Despite reading about it, I still feel I would be caught by surprise. It seems there's a lot to think about (lighting etc)  If I am going to do it, it needs to be done soon. It's just a mouse click away.  I open the email, look at the "click here" box and it looks like a Pandora's box lol.  I close the email and avoid it. hmm  There isn't any real information in the email aside from a statement that they want to get to know me a little more through this form of interviewing. I looks to be an automated type email because today I got a reminder about it.  LOL I saw myself in Skype once and scared myself. This is a different platform but there will likely be video at some point in the interview. Arghhh!  Funny thing, they were very specific that applicants should be from the area. I checked a box that I was. Would seem even more reason to meet in person. This makes me feel like a performing seal. I guess I'm going to have to use my phone to do it. My laptop is older.

Anyway.... thanks for your responses and encouragement.  (((hugs)))  TT

TT- I love that you're starting small and standing tall. These changes in your immediate environment can lead to real clarity in the emotional environment I think.

Sorry I've never done a digital interview... what I know is this - when HP wanted to put me into a new job, (s)he did! period! Great work and keep us posted on the interview, it sounds so techy and exciting! You sound great.
