Courage to Change (C2C) 6/24/16

Good morning MIP family and TGIF!!!  Today's reading is all about finding miracles and seeing our success in that which happens each day, big or small.  The reading starts out with a fable about a farmer who is wanting to increase production of eggs from his hens.  He decides to charm them all day long, playing lovely music on his flute.  When he was asked later on if he'd had success, he replied, "I sure did.  It wasn't much of a day for egg-laying, but it was a great day for music!"

Our program helps us to recognize how much we have accomplished just by being willing to walk through the doors of a meeting to ask for help.  In spite of our difficult situations, many of us now have the chance to change long-held behaviors and beliefs.  We often have known great disappointment in realizing we can't cure alcoholism, but in time, we do see and realize how much we can achieve in spite of that which we can't fix/control/change.

Today's Reminder ---- The finest gift I can give to ensure my continued recovery is willingness.  Each demonstration of willingness, each meeting attended, each Al-Anon tool used, is a mark of my success.

Today's Quote ---- from Grenville Kleiser -- "Every good thought you think is contributing its share to the ultimate result of your life."

I have heard many times in the program that I can act my way to right thinking, but can't think my way to right actions.  For me, this is true.  I spent hours, days - too much time - trying to impose a fix for my qualifiers and my home life.  You name it, I considered it and often tried to act upon it.  However, the results were ....................

When I got to the program, I learned about willingness and action.  Getting up each day, attempting prayer/meditation, reading dailys and/or literature, going to meetings, talking with others in recovery are all actions I can take which have helped me change my frame of reference and thinking.  By being willing to listen and practice what others suggested, my attitude and outlook has changed drastically.  I no longer wake with great fear, sadness or anxiety.  I no longer dread getting out of bed.  I no longer waist my time researching cures, fixes, statistics, etc. - I live each moment of each day in my best possible way.

Some days are better than others and some moments are harder than desired.  However, because I am willing to practice this program, I can easily find a tool to apply to help me through it or anything.

Make it a great day MIP family - so grateful for my journey with you!!

Hi IAH  What a powerful statement!   I will remind myself that when I continue to pray and meditate, treat people with courtesy and respect I do so simply because they are positive principles that I live by--The added bonus is that it also contributes in a positive fashion to the-results-of-my-life.How great is that

Thanks for your service ----- Have a  great Friday.

I see this reading as an example of continuing to have a positive attitude and gratitude. The farmer could have concentrated on the eggs, but he chose to concentrate on the music. It was his choice that made the difference in his day.

How to get and keep that positive attitude in our lives is the "work" we must do.

In Michigan we have wonderful beaches!!! Lots of sugar sand.
