Hope for Today Apr 26

Good morning Everyone-

The focus of today's reading is humility.  There is a sentence on the page that says it all for me: 'Attempting to work the program has given me some humility.'  Well ain't that the truth! I think once I started working on my recovery, one of the concepts I worked on accepting had to do with not having all the answers, or sometimes having an answer that wasn't quite right, or being able to trust that others might know something that I don't.  Above all though, it means constantly working on the idea that my HP has the answers.

The last line in the main part of reading is about the difference between weakness and humility. What I have learned is that there is such strength and freedom in humility! There are a world of possibilities out there if I will accept that I do not already know all there is to know.

One of the most special aspects of meetings, for me, is being aware that I am part of a group that has a sole purpose- to help friends and families of alcoholics.  Some of us are old, some young, some have some money, some have none, many ethnicities are represented, stages of life and status of marriage.... But all of us there for one purpose is humbling.

hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!

M

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on  this topic Mary and LU. I know that before program, I attempted to be a "Know it all" with a great deal of EGO(easing God out) and little self esteem.

When I began to practice this program, admitting powerlessness was my first step in surrendering  and being able to ask of help.  I soon discovered that the humility that developed from these actions helped me to actually join the human race, maintain my self esteem while being one among many.  I am truly grateful to this program

I am amazed that I found that "Humility" is  a great asset.

Thanks for your service.  Have a lovely day .

I love humility it has God power behind it,
I was living a life that i saw little of it, now in
Recovery i can see the great benefits Of
embracing that simple word and using it
As a way of life.

(((( hugs ))))

Thanks Mary for the daily and your service. Thanks to all above me for sharing your ESH! I define humility as being teachable. I too am always filled with gratitude when I consider what bonds us together in spite of all the differences among members. What also keeps me humble is that I can read the same page, chapter, slogan or daily reflection and feel as if it is speaking directly to me - and it's as if I have not read it before. If and when I can keep an open mind, each day is truly new and each daily or literature piece feels like a new lesson.

I am humbled to be a part of an organization that is unstructured in design (traditions and principles), contributory in funding and non-judgmental in nature. Thank you all for being a part of my journey!

(((Mary))) The part you wrote about "having all of the answers" really spoke to me. I equate that to always trying to fix things too. It's something I need to really work on. Thank you for your share, and for everyone else's shares.
