MUSCLE RUB NAZI

I rounded out my birthday weekend with something that I love to do....yard work.  Sunday was a day of weeding and moving plants, mowing the lawn.  I went to a plant auction on Saturday and I got two things I have always wanted....a Crepe Myrtle tree and a weeping cherry tree.  So Sunday was also a day of digging holes.  Well, I was very sore when I crawled into bed.   I looked on my nightstand for my icy hot and it was GONE.   I asked AH and he mumbled he didn't know, cheerleader daughter didn't know, and no one would help me look.  I was angry.  I was in pain.  As luck would have it I had to go to the pharmacy today to pick up some refills, I bought another tube and put it in its rightful spot.  Daughter asked to borrow some this evening.  NO!!!   AH asked for some this evening as well ....NO!  LOL  they are both so mad at me right now...but that's my boundary now...NO ICY HOT FOR YOU.

(((Suzann))) - I'd hide it....or have to around here! Most things that aren't hidden grow legs and disappear. I learned to adapt by purchasing doubles of most things.

Enjoy your evening!!

That weeping cherry tree sounds beautiful and I'm not surprised you felt a few aches and pains after that much digging!
What a wonderful new slogan, I can't wait to use it! No Icy Hot for You!!! Brilliant and kind of perplexing at the same time!

I think we should adopt the term Reaction Nazis (after the show Seinfield-Soup Nazi--perhaps I am showing my age lol) However, it did give me an odd sense of satisfaction when both my A and my daughter were kept awake by the thunderstorm last night and I slept right through it. IamH the same thing here. We used to have to check my AS room before he moved in with his dad if there was anything missing. That is the first place you would usually find it. But I am also adding the item to my BJ's shopping list. I have come to realize a couple of things 1. My A's are very selfish people and they feel that they are allowed to continue to listen to that inner child and pacify its needs rather than grow up and be accountable. By detaching it kind of makes them responsible. My AH has to have knee surgery. Its amazing since my detachment process began he has become all of sudden capable of scheduling his own labs, doctors appts, and pre op testing. Remarkable what you can do when you have to. 2. I set the tone for how I expect to be treated, rather by my A or my daughter. Both of them had their hands on my Icy Hot in the last 2 weeks, neither of them were willing to help me look for it...so they are now beat. Milkwood, the weeping cherry tree is gorgeous. My plan is to take a picture and exchange for the crazy bunny. Lol

LOLOL....Reaction Nazis - that's a good one!! Your post made me recall a similar scenario. When my AH had to have his heart surgery, he did all the pre-op appointments and never informed me or asked me to go. I just let it be, and figured if/when I was needed, he or the doctor's office would let me know. So, the day of the surgery, off we went to the hospital. He had to be there 2.5 hours before the surgery. We showed up at 5:30am for an 8:00am surgery that was not until 10:00am.

He was nervous as it was bypass surgery and they weren't sure how many. So, we were stuck there a bit longer than planned on the front end. He had the surgery, all went well, and then off to ICU we go. He did very well and was released in record time - I was given a million care giver instructions. He was not to drive, and had many limitations, so I became the care-giver. No issues, life is good, etc.

About 3 months after the surgery, he 'reacts' with yelling that his bills are not getting paid (I pay the bills and do the insurance stuff) and they are going to send him to collections. I just looked at him as I had not seen one thing - bill or insurance transmittal. Long story short, when he filled out the pre-surgery paperwork, he gave the wrong address......we've lived in this house for 17 years.

I suggested he call them, give them the correct address and have them send what they need. *Sigh* - it was so funny to me and he kind of chuckled too.

We have 3 levels of house and it seems that putting things away/back is a learned skill that only I learned. I got so tired of spending time looking for misplaced things - I just bought multiples. Gave me more serenity and saved a ton of time...

(((Hugs))) - can't wait to see your tree!

Same thing here. I don't like it,and my wife hates it, when my fingernails get too long. Yet, there is never a stable place for the nailclippers. She is a hobbyist nail person, and is constantly doing them, so constantly using all nail appliances.

So I finally got my own, and keep it squirreled away. I'm very careful to put it back in its secret hidey hole when I am done.

Yes, but don't you just hate it when you hide something in a secret place, and then later forget where that secret place is?????????????? Welcome to the 50's.

Yes......I am guilty of misplacing things that I have hidden away. *sigh* - and it started a bit before 50!! Having said that, I am much more willing to search for something I know I misplaced than something they misplaced - after all, my hidey placed are usually within one room - ha.ha.ha.ha.ha....

Kenny - I bought everyone their own finger and tail clippers. Everyone else still asked for mine as they constantly misplaced theres!!

IAH when my AH first started to have "issues" with his drinking if was an ER visit via ambulance for chest pain. He only had VA insurance at the time. Now you would think ER, chest pain, ambulance it was medically necessary...well after two days in the hospital for pancreatitis (this being the 3 rd hospitalization in 6 months) the VA was not so willing to say it was medically necessary. For a year I fought that claim. Appeal after appeal and I finally won it for him...however the letter that said OK you win was shredded by him because he got the mail that day. I was so peeved. Mirandac I cant say I am good, but I am ok.

Lately the phrase that I have been using when the other members of the household have misplaced their belongings and ask if I have seen it/them is No, last time I used it I put it back.

I will post the tree as soon as I can. First day back to work after a mini staycation, ....over 40 e mails ugh

Hi Suzann,

I'm so happy for you, looks like on your way to recovery. We're not selfish people, we just realized how some people have abused that selflessness.

I used to do those things too for my AH, call the doctor, set an appointment, go with him to the doctor, have the medicines ready etc. etc... realized I shouldn't be going that far... some things he has to do for himself. Sad part, it's my mom reacting that I'm not being a good wife... am I?

Going to the posts above, oh boy it's the Golden Club

(((Hugs)))

Jocelgp I too was raised by a mother that did everything. When my father would go on one of his benders and my mother would get angry and they would fight he would threaten to leave and tell her "Go pack my bags" and she would. Only to have to unpack them when he "decided to give us another chance" Did that make her a better wife than I am? I used to do all those things and tbh I resented it. Now to give my AH the respect to handle his own affairs, although difficult to swallow when he is active and driving, is kind of liberating. Last night AH fell asleep in his recliner. He appeared to be sober. No obnoxious snoring. When I was going to bed I was going to wake him up, and then thought why? Hes a grown man, when he wakes up if he wakes up if he wants to come to bed he will....and he did. Speaking of Golden Club...I also see that he bought his own tube of Icy Hot. LOL
