Fired/Laid off

Not sure how to feel about getting canned from a job I hated. Was mostly that they couldn't afford to keep me. Either way, it is reminiscent of being in a relationship with a drunk and feeling rejected by someone you hate anyhow. Being unemployed is scary. Very anxious.  Something will work out.

Pink sending you a warm hug.

You will end up shining and find
Something more suited, less
Stressful and shorter commute.

Pink that's good analogy. Can you give yourself a gap?
We have no jobs in our home, either.
I was noticing fear eating around the edges of my feeling prosperous subsequent to my morning gratitude list this morning. I'm not willing to give up the prosperous sensation. I decided to pray about what kind of actions (what kind of job) my HP may provide. Hmmm my serenity is restored.

You'll land on your feet. Now you know more about what kind of a job not to accept than you did a year ago. In support!

I knew the higher up I go in a corporate structure, the greater chance of layoff/fire. Clinical Directors get fired/let go at the drop of a hat. No job security working in treatment industry.

Ugh Pinkchip sorry to hear. I know this sounds cliche' but I do believe everything happens for a reason. Maybe enjoy taking a breather for a few weeks since it sounds like you've been running ragged with that commute you had. Something better will come up for sure.

Hugs, hugs and more hugs. There's something better for you and you need to have your hands free to accept it and that's all there is to it.

(((Pinkchip))) - so sorry to hear this - I do hear that you were not super fond of this job....perhaps the stars are aligning and it is exactly as it's suppose to be. I do believe another opportunity will come your way - you have too much to share to not land where you are needed.

Prayers and positive energy from my world to yours. Hang in there - enjoy the break!!

Positive thoughts and prayers on the way

Boy did they make a stupid decision that time, Mark!  How disappointing and aggravating that they were as short-sighted as you had worried they might be.

I know it will probably be nerve-wracking not knowing exactly what the future holds.  Though I'm sure it's not much consolation, I have rock-solid confidence that your amazing qualities of insight and forthrightness will mean that you will land on your feet.  The next place will be lucky to get you.  Take good care of yourself in this time of transition.  Maybe even some down time and relaxation!

It never feels good to have that happen!  I do know that, the closing of the window will also lead to the opening of a door... a door more suited to you.  It's just hanging in there in the journey from that window to that door. :)

I'm right there with you. I was just trying to get up my courage to give notice/let go of a job that really did not feel right for me... and they beat me to it... told me the job was being reorganized (two of us shared a full-time job), and I could apply if I wanted... but I knew they did not want me, and I did not want them, but it still hurt.

You have so  much to offer! I hope this journey to the next thing will not be too long for you, and that you can enjoy the gift of time along the way.

So sorry to hear this PC, hope your situation is short lived. I know hearing the old adage
"When one door closes, another one opens" is old hat, but I find that it is usually true!!
Wishing you the best of all possible outcomes!!!

Pinkchip and Oceanpine, my thoughts are with you both!  I, too, believe that everything happens for a reason. In the meantime, try to enjoy a little "me" time. Btw pinkchip, I have 2 Yorkies, as well!  They're the best!

Cooper is a shitzu-poodle though he does look yorkie-ish in that pic. Pet therapy helped today but I still moped and napped on and off all day saying sleep was when the world hurt less (yes -purposeful melancholy I am allowing myself today)...though oversleeping in the day will have me up worrying and obsessing tonight. Not good.

I'm sorry the job wasn't what you hoped. It always feels better to leave on our terms but companies play a lot of games and other companies know this so I think places look more at what you bring to the table than who got their nose out of joint and decided to let you go. It's all business and not personal these days. Your value and skills have not depreciated because of their decision.  Your worth is the same :)  I had an interview on Wednesday, went to the mailbox today and already had a rejection letter. First place my mind went... geez that was quick, wow they don't even need any time to think about it LOL. But ya know what, it would have been a crappy job. Yes, it was in my field but the job it went against my personal ethics so each day I'd only have been letting myself down. You say you hated the job, now you're free. A loving hp removes us from situations so we don't need to suffer through.  We've grown and we deserve a workplace that's worthy of us.  Our histories of rejection make it feel icky at first. It's not a good feeling but then it's almost a relief not to have to go back to such a miserable situation. Rest up because there's exciting new opportunities are ahead. (((hugs))) TT

Hugs my friend.  Hope you allow this in between time to recharge the batteries. Asset list. Morning jog. Y'know the good stuff that keeps us positive and kicks anxiety down to size. It didn't sound like an easy place to be. You're in my thoughts.

Hugs Pink .. I'm so sorry to hear about this big hugs!! I find that managing my expectations/fears of what I think should or should not be happening, living in one day at a time helps a great deal. I know for fact that something else will come up for you!

Oceanpine, I have been thinking about you! Big hugs!!

Sorry to hear this Mark. I hope they at least gave you a little severance to ease the transition you'll be going through. I can't help but feel optimistic for you though, as you indicated it was a job that you hated. I hope every day gets a little better for you as you adapt to the changes!

Anxiety of Monday and no job is hitting hard. I dont want to leap at a bad opportunity/wrong opportunity out of desperation. Program tools are needed to just sit with myself and let things unfold. Tons of jobs applied for...

Sorry mark,

The last time I got laid off, it actually turned in to a whole summer i got to spend with my eight-year-old son who really needed it at the time. But going in was scarey. Lean on HP, and keep up the applications. I've heard there is a Russian saying that goes "When lost, first pray, then row the boat".

(((PinkChip))) - the right job will arrive when it's supposed to.....I admit when you said no calls on Day 1, I saw a bit of me in that.....patience has never been one of my virtues - it's a daily request from above!

Positive energy, thoughts and prayers your way!!

2 interviews today. Fingers crossed. One to be clinical director for a well established program for adolescent substance abusers, the other to be a therapist at a small, but quality adult treatment center.

Wow!  That was double-quick!

When you posted about a day having passed, I was reminded of a comic novel I once read.  It was in the form of a diary, and the man had planted some radishes.  The next day he writes, "Radishes not up yet."  On the second day he writes, "Radishes still not up!"  Third day: "No radishes!"  And so on.  It made me laugh because it's so true about human nature and how we want things to happen so quickly.

However, you're so in demand that your "radishes" did come up on the second day!  That is awesome!  I hope you get a nice fat bigger salary out of the deal too.  We're rooting for you!
