Courage to Change 11- 25

The C2C reading for November 25 speaks about attending Al-Anon meetings and how, by doing so,  we can dedicate ourselves to growing and changing  It points out one person might go to a meeting a week  does not get a sponsor but  still grows only slowly.  Usually a crisis brings this leisurely approach to an end.

Once we begin to  use the tools, and  practice the program diligently, we finally come to realize that the strength and skills that Al-Anon  has to offer can enable us to live life with courage, serenity and wisdom.  It is by  going to several meetings a week, doing service work, working the steps that we are  ensured that our recovery will take off. Putting the program as a top priority in our lives and learning to  live life on life's terms we experience the power of the promised Spiritual experience

The reminder for today indicates that sometimes great growth comes from pain but it's not the pain that helps us grow it is our "response" to it.If we choose to suffer through this experience and continue as before we have not let the pain inspires change and help us grow. The choice is ours.

The quote is from the Al-Anon book in all our affairs; "I have learned in Al-Anon to look for opportunities for growth in every situation. This attitude allowed me to gain many spiritual riches from the pain I experienced "
Today, thanks to program principles  I look for learning experiences in every activity that  I encounter.

Thanks Betty for the daily - a great read and reminder that I get what I give. If I apply myself and embrace all that the program offers us, I tend to be better at dealing with life on life's terms and have a ton more peace. For me, it's all about action and attitude - if I do what's suggested and work on being grateful for what I have - life is typically pretty darn good.

I am glad that while I am still a work in progress, I am not the same person as when I arrived. The program has given me the ability and opportunity to grow and change each day. I truly never imagined that I would have peace and joy with the way my life had been going and with this disease permeating in all aspects of it. I was wrong; I am able to be well and do different all because I was willing to surrender, look at myself and change that which I can in my life.

So grateful for Al-Anon, MIP and all program principles and members. My life is so different than before, I am amazed at the many chances each day I get to grow and change!

Sorry for any typos - I have on my old glasses instead of contacts this morning so my eyes aren't seeing what my fingers are typing....LOL!

And this is where I'm at right now..I'm sad but still pushing forward
