Hope For Today June 30

Good morning everyone-

Today's reading is about how futile it is to expect from the outside (with another person, job, home, etc) happiness we are looking for on the inside.  Happiness comes from the work we do in the program and our relationship with our HP.  At one time I remember struggling with a particular situation and my sponsor said to me "you are exactly where God wants you to be".   Those words were such a great reminder to get out of God's way, have faith and keep working on my own self.  The writer mentions trying to fill a void by eating too much, shopping, searching in other people for what he or she felt was missing.  I am remembering today that we are our own source of power, that our HP is steering the ship, and that all the happiness we seek is already within us.

Have a great Tuesday everybody!

Mary

Thanks Mary Love this reading. I now understand that thought that "Happiness is an inside job".

Thank you alanon and HP for giving me the clarity and wisdom to see that all the negative, destructive tools that I used to survive were destroying my joy and serenity and it was not the people places and things that I blamed.

As you stated, alanon tools work and we are just where we are supposed to be.

 Thanks for your service.

Good morning Mary - Happy Tuesday back @ ya!

Thanks for the daily - what a great read and needed reminder.

We have a practice in my program family that when life is presenting lemons, we say, "Thank you God - I wouldn't have it any other way." At times, it is said in jest but the one liner is a reminder that we have to go through tough times to grow and arrive where we are supposed to be in the greater plan of our lives.

I am so grateful that the program has taught me that when there is pain, there is growth and this too shall pass. All that we go through gives us exactly what we need for our next chapter, and wishing/wanting for something different is not productive.

My HP is the driver of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Gratitude today for my program, my alanon friends and all that I've learned that helps me be a better version of myself!

Its amazing to me that I spent so many years in such pain because I "wasn't loved" by other people when in actuality I was in pain because I didn't know how to love myself. So simple yet so, so very hard to grasp!!

Thanks for sharing this
