A quick apology to all...

I want to apologize to people of the Christian faith that may understandably take offence if they stumble upon some of my posts.

It has taken a long time for me to digest that what I experienced was abuse in the guise of Christianity but in no way representative of the vast majority of people who practice it, and not in keeping with the tenets of the faith itself.

Whether I choose to reject it or accept it these days is at least based on its own offerings and NOT the ravings of a lunatic, and I understand that others who may choose differently find strength, happiness and peace in it.

More strong, happy people.  Sounds good to me.

No offense from me. I read it as a hurt person working through bad encounters. Keep coming back. We have many people with various beliefs and a common goal, which is our own recovery. We process "out loud" here, and it's a good practice to take what we like while leaving the rest behind.

I am in no way hurt by anything you have written and actually look forward to reading more! I come from a long line of dysfunction and it took me a long time to separate out the molester from the Christian. I have met many Christians whom are healthy functional people, but in my family that wasn't the case, but I am doing all I can to stop the cycles of abuse of every kind and I see you doing the work too. We all walk our own paths and have our own views here, but I gain from each and every share. Keep coming back!

No offense taken. I've heard all kinds of things at meetings--everyone has their own journey, so I do not judge. And on the other side of the coin, please keep coming back here and going to meetings--you can and will find your own comfort zone for working your own program of recovery , and you're worth it!

No offense taken here either. I practice a faith, however I don't deny that a lot of people have used that position of trust to abuse people. I am very sorry you had that experience.

((( almost there ))) I don't recall if I shared on one of your posts or not .. I was going to ,at one point and got distracted offline .. one of the great things in alanon Is we learn to each take what we like and leave the rest .. one of the first things my sponsor taught me was to stop judging good bad right wrong .. she taught me as human beings we learn by experience .. experiences are just experiences .. in alanon, we're a spiritual (not religious group) with one loving authority expressing through us all .. today I look at this and can say .. through your experience there is no god .. through my experience there is ... but neither view is wrong .. we come to believe what we do based on what we've experienced .. we've all had ''different experiences .. we are 'bound to different beliefs .. since the program is all about change the only thing I do know is my own beliefs will only continue to change too .. where I am today is not where I will be in another year .. as long as I keep coming I will keep on moving forward .. (especially in my thinking; depending on my alanon 'experiencing)

since we learn in alanon we can't cause control cure change anything .. we can't really be the cause of another's perception either .. just what it is .. I would for one never be offended by a member who merely expresses their experiences of what they are going through and where they are .. if I were to do that I would myself be back in judging good bad right wrong (usually making the person good bad right wrong) ugh that's not a feeling I want to feel at all ..  (truth is If I have a problem with something It's my responsibility to work through it (in me) & vice versa for others)

glad you are here .. I am a Christian faith but for a long time my god had become "an alcoholic thinker" took me a long time to recognize the projecting .. (my alcoholic wasn't there for me and neither was God) that wasn't a god I could believe in either. I may not have been an atheist but Im pretty sure I have had times of being agnostic ..

I love the preamble and the readings at the beginning of every meeting. It reminds us that alanon is not affiliated with any outside issues including religion. We dont talk about religion because it distracts us from our goal. The word God is used as a simple way to talk about a higher power for everyone. At meetings, religion should not be discussed and ive been going for three years and it isnt discussed.
