Hi all,

It has been a very long time since I signed in to this group. I had to set up a new account because I could not rememberr my password. I use to sign in as Gailey.

Hopefully I could go back to my old account somehow and read my old posts. I would like to see how far I have come.

I have recently retired and moved to the house at the beach that we purchased in 2008...Bethany Beach, Delaware. My A son is in recovery and will be celebrating 4 years this July. I am beyond grateful. It has been a long ride but one I would take again if it led us to AA and Alanon. I was away from Alanon the whole time he has been in recovery. When I moved away from him I was feeling alot of anxiety about leaving him to live without mommy. He is 43 years old...lol. He had lost everything due to his sickness. He had 3 dui's, no car, no job and spent 3 months on house arrest. We were grateful for the house arrest as it kept him from going to jail. We had to help support him in the beginning of his recovery. He had no way to get to his job if he lived with us so we had to set him up in an apartment so that he could ride his bike to work. Eventually he quit that job and moved into an apartment attached to our house...where he is now.

Anyway it is so much more but I got myself back involved in f2f meetings and have begun working the steps. I pray, meditate and read my literature every morning. I am chairing meetings and have met more friends that know exactly what my life is like. It has made a big difference in my life in letting go of my adult son and letting him find his own way. In reality, moving away from him is probably the best move I have ever made.

Glad to be back and now I am going to search out my old posts.

Gail

Hi Gailey,

Welcome back. As for reading your old postings, across the top of the site is a burgundy-colored bar with an entry of "Search" in it. Click there, type in Gailey, and you will see many of your postings listed out.

It's funny how things that look like the worst thing we could do sometimes turn into the best things. I wouldn't have wished alcoholism on my wife, nor her A'ism on me, but her finding AA, and me finding Al Anon are two of the best things that have ever happened to us. HP can take bad things and make them good, if we decide to help him out some!

Keep coming back and sharing your ESH!

Kenny
