I am so done with crap!!!!

I try to be a good person and I want to be treated with respect.I have been having some problems with my landlord, she doesn't want to fix things.I had a leak in my hot water tank  which resulted in a bad mold problem in and around a cabinet,it could also  be behind the cabinet or under the floor, she told me to bleach it and apply kilz .well my daughter has been sick ever since then with allergy symptoms and she has pus on her tonsils.antibiotics aren't working, she has never had this before.I sent my landlord a message that i was concerned about the mold and my daughter being sick.she proceeds to tell me what I  need to do,more bleach, and I proceed to tell her that I don't think it is my responsibility, she won't fix a window that won't close and it is winter, she told me to put plastic on it.she started shooting hateful messages that I could move and she doesn't run and fix everything. She became very disrespectful and hateful  and I have had it.I am taking my daughter to the doctor again tomorrow and have him write down that the mold could be causing this,if she wants to treat me this way I don't want to live here anymore.

In our City, we have a department to go to about those kinds of rental things. A city inspector will come out to inspect the rental. I don't know if that's true for you. Landlords don't like this agency showing up at their doorstep and too bad, they aren't in the business of just making a profit. They have the business of keeping up their end of the contract.

Sounds like a "small claims" opportunity which takes courage and still often works.  Take notes on everything...people, places and things and times, conversations and responses and all and then go to small claims court.   Judges don't like this kind of uncaring behavior.   (((hugs))) smile

take pictures also.

Thank You, she is known for trying to intimidate people, she said everyone else who rents from her fixes their own things,um,that is not my job. This is ridiculous.I can feel cold air around my head when I shower, the window is broken, and she won't fix it,do I have to keep paying rent,I can't afford to move and pay this rent.

We have that in TX, too...."slumlords"  dont' like inspections, but this is a hazzard...also the window??? its dead winter.......I agree with grateful....I think I would tell her one last time, this has to be addressed and NOW...U won't put up with it...

there are renter's rights ..check w/your area to see what rights you have, but hazzardous living conditions for sure, with mold being so bad, have to be in all cities, one would think....and i don't think she can put you out in retaliation...at least here we have protection against retaliatory action.....of course they can raise ones rent unless there is rent control in the city....I would be calling my city hall, housing, and find out my rights....

good luck....hope daughter is gonna be ok.........

Check your agreement/contract with her.  Hopefully you have one in writing and that the clauses regarding who is responsible for what is where you should find solution.  Often the landlord/owners failure to comply will result in non-payment of rent.  Renters have a lot of power and leverage in many places.   Remember say what you mean, mean what you say and don't say it mean.   ((((hugs)))) smile

Tenants have rights and courts often side with the landlord if rent isn't paid on time, etc. I don't know if there is any agency you can go to in your City that deal with tenant/landlord disputes and there might be? I'm with Jerry on documenting everything. Folks are only free enough to intimidate us if we allow that. You are her equal. She can scream, yell, holler, threaten and hang up if she chooses. You are still equals and you can pursue litigation or the City's rental inspection department if you choose. People can yell at me all day long if I'm programmed up and aware of my own right to stand up for myself and what I want in appropriate and honest ways. We all need air, food, water and adequate housing. She wouldn't live like that, I'll bet? You don't have to do it either.

yeah she said something about raising my rent,I have talked to other renters and she is one of those people who likes to use threats and intimidation to keep from doing anything and she is making a killing. She said her house payment was 1200.00 and she drives a hummer.I do not like to be threatened or intimidated I am sick of people like this!!!I am definitely going to check into what I can do.

Until that time, looks like you get an opportunity to practice program tools and get feedback and support from your MIP family. You're not alone. You'll handle this well with the right help one day at a time. I've known judges who were slum landlords and eventually it all caught up with them.

Yes I believe it will,it is unfortunate that she can't see how blessed she is to have this income and treat people with dignity and respect, yes I am poor right now but I am rich with kindness and I will never treat other people that way!

In my experience, the way I was treated in some situations led to me knowing a different way to treat others.  I don't learn well head wise, but I do learn well experientially.  Maybe this experience in your life now is one that will end up being a service work with others at a future time in your life?  One never knows what's today's lessons can lead to.

Yes, and I am becoming aware of my rights as a human being and I am not tolerant of bad behavior and disrespect anymore.

smile   I hope the other agencies and some of Jerry's suggestions will be a big help to you in this, too, if they sound right for you and your circumstances.
