Yoga, anyone?

I'm starting a yoga class tomorrow. I think this will be a really good companion to al-anon. Now, if I can just learn to find my own strengths, focus on my own progress and keep my eyes off of everyone else, breathe deeply, relax, dare to try things that look too hard, be gentle with myself when I can't do something yet, etc. I think these will be good for me and will support my al-anon journey.

Any ESH?

Southerngirl I agree the discipline of the practice of Yoga both the physical and spiritual exercises have helped me tremendously with practicing my alanon program. Great decision

My higher power gave me the delightful mix of  Alanon, Yoga and my ladies group (friends who were not in alanon but were my "peers" in life)... these things literally saved my life... Yoga was a huge part of it. Enjoy

I've been in an aqua yoga class in a warm water pool for a few months now. I love letting the teacher guide me. My job has been only to relax, listen, act on her instructions and do only what doesn't hurt as per her instructions. To just let go and trust "the Master" to guide me with her wisdom and experience, doing only what I see her doing for now has been a serene and joyful experience.

I am excited for you.  I have been on both sides as a teacher and student.  I loved both. I love the student piece more, though, as I surrender and listen to my body simultaneously.  In al anon I surrender and keep the focus on me.  Let us know how it goes!

I started yoga, sporadically attending back then, about the time i found this site. I was letting stress get to me back then and my blood pressure showed it. The last 3 months i have made yoga an almost daily practice and along with adopting alankn principles jnto my heart and mind, this has my bp back to normal

I turned to yoga to help de-stress and am so glad I did- breathe in things good and wonderful, breathe out stress and anxiety. My yoga practice evolved and I became a certified yoga teacher to share the gift it brings. Yoga teaches to keep your mind open to possibilities - to grow and expand in different ways and to understand that reaching slightly (no injuries- just accept that something more may be possible even if it doesn't show up for today) beyond our comfort zone helps our physical and emotional growth.
