HP puts people in your life for a reason

I was reading a book that discusses how people you come across are there for a reason. Today I got a reminder of why I left AH. There was a man in front of me at the store who smelled strongly of alcohol and he was buying more. I felt nervous and sick to my stomach.

Thank you HP for another reminder of why I choose not to live in chaos anymore.

Love that you see the grace in your life and can apply what you see to yourself in healthy ways.

every soul who is or was in my life is here for one of 3 things....

a reason (usually a lesson and it doesn't always have to be bad) but something i need for my growth

a season  (usually born out of a mutual need and then when both of us are taken care of, we part) and the parting can be forever or temporary

a Lifetime (those special souls that you endure decades and rest of life experiences with....i have my sponsor/BFF  and my adopted sisters and my other BFF from high school....I consider myself blessed to have these "lifers" in my life...i treasure them...)

even the ones who came bearing lessons, unless they are stone evil, i can bless them and give thanks for the lessons.....

anyway, this is my take, please use what you can and leave the rest........

Nice post.

This morning when I went for coffee with my friend, there was a chap in there ordering a pint of beer (10am) for him and his drunk mate.

As a 'double winner', I was very thankful that I was ordering coffee, also that I knew when I got home from spending time with my friend, my AH would treat me with respect due to the very firm boundaries I enjoy maintaining.

I have come to a point in my recovery where I feel extreme gratitude to the lessons my alcoholics have taught me, both about myself and about others. I see reminders like yours as a way for me to stay in reality and for me to be able to get a better perspective of my life. So wonderful to see your recovery in action, Newlife Girl.

Thanks for sharing that NLG. I have a hard time restraining myself lately when I see young people buying alcohol. I got behind a young girl (she looked to be in her late twenties) buying a couple cases of beer. I so badly wanted to stop her and say, "hun if you knew what I know, you'd take that beer and put it back on the shelf", but I didn't.

Thanks again for sharing that.

It works if you work it.smile
