Such a change!

Hello all, I joined this forum around December last year when I was at Rock bottom with my BF drinking habits. Everyone was really fantastic and helped me through such a bad time but the one thing I kept hearing was try and find a local meeting.

I didn't know if I had the nerve and was unsure if I would be able to do it......but do it I did!!

Just a little update really, I have had the best year of my life since I have been in this relationship. Yes things are still the same for him, yes he still does all of the things that are self destructive and harmful to himself but I am working on becoming a completely different person and I am loving it!

My local group are fantastic, they have been welcoming and supportive, understanding and non-judgemental, and they have started me on the road to recovery. Yes it is a long road, full of bumps and fifty foot high brick walls but I am making my way down it slowly but surely smile I am nowhere near fixed, unsure if I ever will be but it is a damn sight less scary than doing it alone!

Anyway the whole point of this post.....you guys on here are fabulous! I know I have neglected this site as things are very busy when trying to get the program started and as a newbie I am constantly unsure of things on a day to day basis but just wanted to let you all know how very grateful I am for making my life a lot easier to cope with

I will be making more of an effort to pop on more and share my ES&H with hose that are newer than me, pay it forward right?

On another note I am going to my first mini convention on Saturday (I think I have used the right terminology HAHA) and I am really looking forward to this new positive experience and the choccy biscuits also

thanks again, love and hugs to all x

Your experience of Al-Anon meetings and fellowship is what those of us in Al-Anon know is waiting for all who are willing to go with an open mind and stay with the program.  So glad to hear your positive experience of the program and your willingness to share your own e/s/h with others.
