Lol.

I put an add on the supermarket noticeboard a while ago, mum kid and pets seeking a place etc because, you never know. I never did hear a word from anyone until this morning, a man called me to say he has a place and would I like to come and see it.

Well I'm not going to get all excited, because, you know. But I'll go and look this evening and meet the gentleman and he can meet daughter and dog and see what we all think.

He was proposing a perfectly reasonable price for 2 rooms, quite affordable in fact, he lives there himself and says he has only recently finished building, he is still landscaping etc and he thought his daughter and her husband were going to live with him and help him pay the house off but they've decided to go out on their own instead so now he has more space than he needs and a mortgage to pay so he's decided to rent to someone.

So he sounded nice, and the location is absolutely perfect, it's half-way between my town where my classes are and the main town where daughter will go to high school next year, so about 15 minutes in either direction. Big bonus- you can see the bay from almost any point in that suburb, it's a nice spot with great scenery.

Anyway I got off the phone and then I thought...well how do I know he isn't an A and that's why his daughter and husband decided not to live there. That's probably why he sounded nice to me...LOL  so anyway out of the blue he calls me back a few minutes later just to let me know that I should be aware it's a drug-free house and he doesn't mind people having a bit of a drink but not rolling around on the floor drunk and he doesn't like smoking and he's just mentioning it because there are a lot of young people in the area and they have a lot of parties and he doesn't like that sort of thing and he goes to church etc, well I'm not sure why he called me back to tell me that, perhaps I sounded like a drunk or a druggie on the phone LOL but I did have a little giggle to myself afterwards since i had just been thinking OMG he's probably another A, I should cancel this....

He also said during the phone call "Bring the dog to meet me but if it's OK he'll have to stay outside until I get the grass down out the back because otherwise he'll bring mud in" well, you know. I think we can probably cope with that LOL.

Anyway there are a lot of unanswered questions, I just thought it was so funny that he called me back to tell me he doesn't like drugs or drunk people or smoking, I can probably cope with that too LOL, so anyway that is 6 hours away and in the mean time I have a house to pack and clean, only 2 more sleeps before I close the door on this place for the last time so I'd better stay in the moment and I'll go meet the man this evening and keep an open mind and see what happens, no point projecting one way or the other.

I began to giggle spontaneously when I read about the phonecall after the thought. Cant wait to read what happens next! Tho,no pressure lol. Hugs!

edit: Yup your right about projecting, sorry, I tend to get all excited about good stuff. Whatever happens,I still think its really cool how the call answered the thought.

Mel

We all are going to have fingers, toes and anything else crossed that it just might work for the short term until you get back a normal life and live where you want to live.

Good luck ((( hugs )))

Hope this works out.  I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but Melly, do you have a guy friend who could go out there with you?  Or at least leave notice with where you're going exactly with someone and mention to this guy right away when you get there that you've done so.  "I mentioned this place to my cousin, he's a cop you know, he wanted to know the address because he knows where the drug dealers live, and he said this was a good neighborhood, so I'm excited!"  Or call someone on the phone: "Cousin Jack, you at the station?  Yeah, I got here, 42 Smith Road.  See ya later!"

I hope to heaven I'm paranoid, but this is how predators find victims, as well as how normal people sometimes find renters.  (But to be honest - usually normal people put an ad up, not answer someone else's ad.)  I am getting creepy vibes from this. The reiteration of how he doesn't want druggies or alcoholics could be a way of reassuring you that really, he's very upright, no danger there...

I've had two friends who were in similar circumstances.  One was offered a ride by someone she met casually, one was offered a job by someone when she put a notice up.  In both cases my alarm bells went off.  Long story in both situations, but both of them turned out to be sketchy as h*ll, and one of them would give you the screaming meemies.  The other one I think was merely an abductor.  Police confirmed this likelihood later when she went to report him.

So I am certainly hoping I am overanxious and wrong.  But please take care of yourself, Melly.

Sounds perfect! But, maybe you should bring a friend with you to be safe. I hope it works out!! HP is working for you I'm sure. Can't wait to hear how it turns out!! Wonderful that he has a drug free home.

The call back and how it came about is very near how HP works  with me.  You need answers you get the call with answers.  "God is"...plain and simple and yes do your homework too.   ((((hugs))))  smile
