If You Loved Me You'd Stop-Read It

I have been reading several books on recovery but this one really speaks to me and I'd like to recommend it to everyone here.

Author is Lisa Frederiksen.

Funny, but I read that book last year and I just threw it out. It just didn't speak to me. I can't remember what it was that bugged me? Hmm, anyway, I know that what works for some doesn't work for all and that is the case with all books geared towards recovery. Glad you are getting something out of it, though, because that's what's most important.

FYI: to everyone else: this book is not CAL but can be found on Amazon and in bookstores.

Very true, one man's garbage is another man's treasure.

I just got a new book, "Healing Addiction with Yoga". This is aimed at the user, but I'm hoping to gain some insight on relaxation and breathing work. I know I'm tense and uptight, and that needs to be addressed.

I recently joined an aqua yoga class, Spur. All I can say about is - its heaven. It doesn't hurt either like being on the mat or floor can hurt in Yoga. Warm room. Warm water. Quiet music. Stretching. Breathing. Heaven.

It is, Spur.  The cost is reasonable for 8 weekly sessions. I like being in the water and I like being in the water doing aqua yoga most of all.  I highly recommend it if there might be a Y or something where you live where you could just sign up for classes like this in their warm water pool?

Spur I have been practicing Yoga for many years and find that the breathing exercises as well as the many stretch exercises truly help me physically, emotionally and spiritually. I am glad you are going to look into this beneficial practice

I taught yoga for several years and have witnessed/experienced the benefits.  I believe it is a practice, like the 12 steps, that can help anyone.

Spur, thanks for the book recommendation.  There are so many many books out there and great when we find one or a few that bring enlightment.

Wow.. yoga :)  My yoga class actually started again tonight.  I'm so glad I decided to keep going.  We didn't have class through the summer and at least at this point it just doesn't feel as good to do it alone at home. I hope that changes.

I really enjoyed seeing some people from last time again and it's lovely to see everyone moving in unison and to enjoy the tranquility. I was surprised my body remembered where it left off before our summer break. My instructor was thrilled to hear that when I met with her afterwards to sign my consent form. I only wish I'd begun this years ago.  It's such a great release and people show up with no interest in impressing each other just for themselves to leave feeling better.  TT

I am reading one now called Loving someone in recovery that I like and my favorite is the Dilemma of the Alcoholic Marriage.

Yoga, I have tried once with my friend who does Bikram Yoga and I hated it, I almost passed out with heat stroke!
