Hop in that wheelbarrow

At a meeting last night we read from As We Understood (it's an 11th step meeting so the group reads from that gem every week).

The passage had a wonderful analogy of a tight-rope walker asking his audience if they had faith if he could make it across - they cheered him on and then he came up with a wheelbarrow and asked if they had faith he could push the wheelbarrow across the tight rope. They all cheered again, and then he asked if someone in the audience could have the trust to hop in the wheelbarrow as he did it.

I was thinking at first that this is like putting myself into HP's care whenever things are looking scary...

But then I thought about it more and I thought - no, I'm in that wheelbarrow my entire life. It gets hairy when i start wiggling around in it wanting to control it, turning and shouting at HP to slow down or be careful or give suggestions on how to do it right.

My entire life really is a walk in faith and trust. When I lose trust and start to try to exert control through manipulation and forcing my will on others - that's when it gets bad and I need to learn to relax again and sit back for the ride.

Thanks for letting me share. :)

Thank You Aloha--- I do believe, that even after so many examples that HP is in control, I still hesitate to get in the wheebarrow . I guess I need more practice.:)
