I finally was set to move on Friday to my new town and when I got to the apt it was a disaster. I was promised a downstairs updated unit and what I was given was an upstairs unit that was literally falling apart. The light fixture from the dining area was hanging on by one wire. The tub and sink were rusted the carpet was extremely dirty with stains and the tile was warped, lifted and cut. Then their were cockroaches crawling around. It was so crazy in their. It was late when I went in their and no one was around to complain so I rented a cheap motel for the night. The next day I went to office to try to get out of contract and for them to give me my money. When I arrived I showed her all the pics. She was able to find another downstairs but it will not be ready until tomorrow because it is still under renovation. I have kept in contact with assistant manager all day to make sure of the progress in the work. I have had to stay in hotel since Friday night.
Before program I would have just taken the rotten apt and not said a word because I always carried so much low self esteem and shame of myself. But today I am able to state my case confidently and explain what I need and try to come to a resolution. My friends had driven up with me to help me and they drove back early yesterday. I have been alone which was another issue I overcame. I was always scared to be alone. But today I'm not I know HP is with me and I am enjoying my time alone to read, watch movies or watch funny clips on youtube. I'm finally okay by myself.
I have been through some trials these last couple of days but I am overcoming them one day at a time and it is because of the program that I am able to be ok with myself. I'm grateful for the program, I can't wait to go to a meeting in this new city :)

Good to hear from you!!!!! You said what you meant, meant what you said, didn't say it mean AND you acted on Plan B and made the best of a temporary situation.
I do worry about you staying in a complex that thinks it's ok to rent a unit like the one you described! I wonder if there are cockroaches in other apartments? Is it possible to look somewhere else? I was so lucky when I moved into my new apt. Everything is new. Only a few old things. But it's very clean. You deserve better. Good for you for saying something!

I have seen them making progress on the renovation and I have seen the apts that have been renovated. I wish I could afford a nicer apt in a better neighborhood but for now I cant. I'm having to pay debts that my ex left us. In about 6 months when I'm a little more stable financially I will move to a better apt complex and neighborhood. I have lived in worse areas and worse homes. I'm grateful that when I move in it will be newly painted and new floors. I did send emails to property owners and apartment locater with all the pictures. They need to be aware of the lies the ladies are putting out their to try to get people to rent. Ever since I left my ex I have felt more at peace and I feel safe. He was the one that brought me harm with physical abuse. I have left my life to my HP and so far he has kept me safe. My HP doesn't promise me good times forever but HP promises me strength to get through it all. Today I'm living life one day at a time :)
