Your favourite slogan

Hello all,

Just today it occurred to me how much help the al-anon slogans are to me every day but the one that stands head and shoulders above the rest (for me) is:
"Let go"
I use it in so many ways, when I worry, when I'm scared, when I obsess, when I interfere - just to name a few.
So my question to you is this, what is your favourite slogan and why?

Have a great day,
Dan

Mine is "Live and let Live"

With a safety net of the serenity prayer for when everything else just doesn't seem to work.

Live and let Live... takes on a whole new meaning for me in this program... it mean to me that I should acturally live my life... and put some effort into it... *smile*

And allow others to do the same...

I spent years helping others live their lives... it made them totally dependant, made me the scapegoat for everything... and when it all boiled down to it... I had no life of my own. Talk about a lose lose situation.

Great post....

Take care of you!

T, the slogans are so important to me. I kind of like to look at them as mantras. I take GREAT comfort in them. At the moment Let Go and Let God and Easy Does It are my favorites. But I use them all. How Important Is It? is also really a good one for me. Thanks for the great topic. J.

Lately I've really latched on to "One day at a time". I just can't deal with tomorrow right now (I can barely deal with an hour from now). It's been very liberating to realize that I don't have to. I also love "Let go and let God". A toughie for me to put into practice - but a real lifesaver.

Three stand out to me....

1. One Day at a Time (or one hour, or one minute!!)
2. What You Think of me is none of my business.
3. I Did the best I could, with what I knew at the time.

Travors,

I have to say that it is uncanny that you seem to get into my head. Let Go and let God

I have to Let Go -

of all the things I cannot change, of all the people I cannot change, of all the people whom I love but do not want to share their lives with me, of all the sadness in my heart, of the pain I still feel as though happened only yesterday, of my beautiful daughter, of my darling son...and many more...

and then I have to let God -

and believe and believe and believe that He knows that I do not understand but want the pain to stop.

And it is proving to be a matter of utter faith to do it.

Travors,

What a great post. So timely for me. Today has been one of those days where I have had to.

1. Let Go and Let God

2. Listen and Learn

and

3. Keep an Open Mind.

Thanks for this,

Claudia

I've heard (and really like) these:

 - I will not bear the chain nor the pain of your mistakes

 - An error on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part

Great topic....for me the slogan "how important is it" helps me get thru the day...cause most things that can get to me are not really that important..and with that i let go..and let God....
The slogans are great tools to help me thru the day.  Thanks for the topic

Oh boy, there are lots of slogans!
I guess lately my favorite has been Keep It Simple!
I can complicate anything!
Also, live & let live because I try to control people
so I just have to let people(especially family)
do whatever they need to do!
Now that I am coming out of yet another fog, I am
seeing that I need to let go of the past and start
living in the now!
I would like to think that I will someday not regret
the past or wish to shut the door on it.
But... I am not there yet!
Yes, I need to remember progress not perfection
and I am learning to practice that.
Time takes time!
Maybe this year will be a growing year for me.
I'd like to think that it can only get better because
the last two years have been difficult.  Actually,
the past 2 1/2 years but who's counting!
On & on I go rambling!
What was the topic again?  Slogans, yeah!
They all work if we use them as tools.
ONE DAY AT A TIME!
God isn't finished with me yet!
